What to Do if You’re Aware of (or Concerned About) Roof Damage

Step 1: Call Premiere Roofing for a Free Inspection

Call us to schedule a no-cost inspection of your roof to determine whether repairs are needed and if an insurance claim is advisable.

Step 2: File a Claim

Contact your insurance company through their claims department. Inform them that your property has sustained damage, the source of that damage (hail, wind, etc.), the date it occurred, and that a licensed contractor from Premiere Roofing has conducted an inspection. They insurance company may ask for the name of our team member, so be sure to document that during our inspection visit. Your insurance company will assign a claim number to your request. Write this number down and provide it to Premiere Roofing for reference.

Step 3: Insurance Adjuster Meeting

An adjuster from your insurance carrier will contact you to schedule an additional inspection of the damage. Let the adjuster know that you have selected Premiere Roofing as your repair contractor, and that you’d like a member of our team to be present for the inspection – then let us know the date and time you’ve agreed to with your adjuster so we can put it on our calendar and be there as well. At that meeting, we’ll discuss the damages to your roof and the repair activities needed to bring your property back to its pre-storm condition, including all measurements, materials, pricing, hours and quality assurance processes.

Step 4: Insurance Summary

The insurance company will send you a “Loss Summary Report” containing the list of damages and the associated approved costs. Along with the summary will be your first installment check, called an ACV (Actual Cash Value) Payment. It’s important to review this with your Premiere Roofing contact to ensure that it’s complete and accurate. At this time, we’ll confirm with you the repairs and products that are approved to be installed.

Step 5: Actual Roof Installation

More than simply replacing shingles or tiles, Premiere Roofing’s meticulous repair services include:

  • Removal of all old shingles and disposal in an approved landfill
  • Replacement or repair of any damaged decking applicable to your roof
  • Installation of ice and water shield, especially for the protection of sloped roofs from water penetration due to wind-driven rain and/or water back-up resulting from ice dams
  • Installation of underlayment. Building codes and shingle manufacturers all require the use of a roof underlayment, such as asphalt felt or a synthetic
  • Installation of shingles
  • Application of flashing around chimneys, stack vents and pipes to deflect water away from seams and joints
  • Installation of ventilation at the peak of a sloped roof to allow warm, humid air to escape the building’s attic and prevent moisture or mold build-up
  • Clean-up of the surrounding area to ensure it’s free of nails and discarded roofing materials

Step 6: Insurance Claim Completion

Upon completion of your roof repairs, Premiere Roofing will send a final invoice to your insurance company, along with any necessary documentation. This will release to us any remaining payment for the agreed work. This is called “Recoverable Depreciation.”

Step 7: Final Payment and Warranty Information

Upon receipt of final payment from your insurance company, Premiere Roofing will provide you with warranty information for all the products and services associated with your roof repair.
